Certification Prep Courses
The CIAS offers certification preparation courses that are designed to focus your experience and knowledge on objectives and content needed to pass a certification exam.
These preparation classes are taught live, whether in-person or virtually, by seasoned UTSA instructors. All prep courses feature continuous testing and reinforcement of materials to prepare all participants for certification exams.

Certified Information Systems Security Professional Prep Course
This live, online course prepares information security professionals for the CISSP examination.
The following eight domains of the (ISC)² CISSP Common Body of Knowledge will be covered in this course:
- Security and Risk Management
- Asset Security
- Security Engineering
- Communications and Network Security
- Identity and Access Management
- Security Assessment and Testing
- Security Operations
- Software Development Security
Multiple practice tests will be used throughout the course.
Prerequisites
- minimum of five years full time security professional experience in at least two of the eight domains (ISC)² CISSP CBK
- OR four years of direct full time security professional work as noted and a four-year degree prior to taking the CISSP examination

CompTIA Security+ Prep Course
This course prepares IT/Security professionals for the CompTIA Security+ certification exam. Lectures cover all five examination domains required for the CompTIA Security+ exam in detail. Hands-on labs are included in this course to allow participants to apply their knowledge.
The following domains specified by CompTIA Security+ examination objectives will be covered in the course:
- Network Security
- Compliance and Operational Security
- Threats and Vulnerabilities
- Application, Data and Host Security
- Access Control and Identity Management
- Cryptography
Multiple practice tests will be used throughout the course.
Prerequisites
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in IT administration with a focus on security
- Day to day technical information security experience
- Broad knowledge of security concerns and implementation including the topics in the domain list above

CIAS-ISAO Educational Resources
Focused on community cybersecurity programs, the CIAS-ISAO iniative is designed to help states, tribes, local jurisdictions and territories to establish comprehensive cybersecurity programs. This effort includes educating all individuals within a community – both technical and non-technical, professional and non-professional.
The CIAS-ISAO offers three membership levels – beginning with a free membership level to give members access to educational resources throughout the year at NO COST. These free resources are accessible in the form of educational articles and one-hour webinars. Free-level members can attend the live webinars at no cost and gain access to articles at any time.
